Lord DeBrett is an Oerendine noble living in semi-exile with his Miiltani wife Lady Morae. He and his wife fled because Lord DeBrett married his Miiltani wife without securing permission from the King, which normally would have been overlooked and forgiven for a Baron, but his push to recognize other nations made Lord DeBrett a pariah in his own country. Lod and Lady DeBrett fled 35 years before SolomonBrand became a Lord. They have been Oerendine nobles in exile ever since. They had children in Miiltaan and those children are even having children, so it's been a couple of generations away. Now that the other countries are firmly recognized, the Oerendine throne is way too proud to admit they were wrong and welcome them back, and the DeBrett family is way too celebrated in Miiltaan for telling off the Oerendines, so the family isn't really motivated to leave.
